(Isaiah 54:17) is
one of my favorite verses on spiritual warfare. “No weapon that is formed
against you shall prosper, every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment
you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their
righteousness is of me, says the Lord.”
The weapon formed
against us is the attack, or the strategy, that has been planned and
orchestrated by Satan and the demonic forces to steal, kill, and destroy us,
and to cause us pain and torment while they do it. They watch everything we do
and say, and they keep record of it to use against us in an accusation to God
in obtaining a legal cause to attack us. But when we are covered and forgiven
by Jesus’ blood whatever they have in accusation is forgiven, and we know our
authority that He has given us, and then we have the victory. This authority
and victory is our heritage. Heritage meaning a tradition that is passed down
from one generation to another; our heritage is a generational blessing of forgiveness,
power, authority, and victory. That is our legacy. Our righteousness is of God.
Our authority comes through Him and His righteousness and is recognized by
Satan and the demonic as God in us.
At 3 a.m., on a
Friday morning, God gave me a dream of this verse. I was in the spirit realm,
and it looked much like the setting of a sci-fi movie or video game, like
nothing that could be found on earth. It was semi-dark, yet I could see
everything that was happening. There were demonic spirits 50 to 100 yards from
me who were firing what looked like missiles of attack at me. I thought of the
fiery darts that Paul mentioned in Ephesians 6:16. With each one fired at me,
God would drop a shield down between the spirits and where I was, keeping me
protected. Purchase this book from http://WhosoeverPress.com. After this had gone on for some time, I realized that I was being
surrounded by many demonic spirits in what seemed an unexpected sneak attack.
Each one of them had an array of different medieval weapons in their hands.
They were in a circle closing in on me. The leader of the group looked me in
the eyes and said with a sinister voice “I am going to kill you.” I looked him
straight in the eyes and begin to say over and over without stopping, “In the
name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus.” Then I would point
my finger in the face of different demons and say, “God loves you, in the name
of Jesus. In the name of Jesus.”
As I continued
this, without stopping, they became paralyzed and could not move; they couldn’t
raise their arms; their hands lost strength and they began to drop their
weapons to the ground.
I then saw large
beings (about twice the size of the spirits) that I knew were angels, although
they were not like any angels I had seen in pictures or imagined. I can’t even
describe their appearance. They were holding the demonic spirits back behind
their angelic arms. The demonic spirits did not have the slightest bit of
strength to fight for their release. I pointed my finger in the face of one of
them and then waved my arm and pointed to the rest and said, with a voice of
authority, “And THIS is “MY HERITAGE.”
One interesting
fact about this dream is this: the only part of this verse that I knew was, “No
weapon formed against me shall prosper.” I knew it was (Isaiah 54:17), so I
looked it up and read it. That’s when I found the part about our heritage. God
is just cool isn’t He!
Spiritual warfare
is simply our battle against Satan and his demonic forces. In (1 Peter 2:11),
Peter warns us to abstain from the sensual urges, evil desires and passions of
our fleshly lust because the demonic use them to wage “war” against our souls.
The Greek word for war here is “Strateuomai” which means to make a military
expedition and to lead soldiers to war or battle as a commander, and to fight
in battle array to either kill or to take captive. The word “expedition” means
to go on an “exploration,” which means to travel, to examine, investigate, and
to learn about.
